About the Phoenix
Phoenix, the annual arts and literary publication of Clark College, is published by the Associated Students of Clark College (ASCC) in collaboration with the Art and English departments to encourage the creative efforts of Clark College students. The ASCC finances the publication solely for the benefit of Clark College students, and it is unavailable for resale. Each spring the Phoenix publishes 2500 copies of a beautiful print edition. Clark College students are welcomed to a complimentary copy while supplies last. Since 2009, we have also added a web edition of Phoenix, free for all to enjoy.

Submitting Works to Phoenix
Any student enrolled in 100-level courses at Clark may submit art and/or literary works in the year of publication. Submissions are chosen through a blind process by selection committees composed of students nominated by their discipline-respective instructors in Art and English. After the respective selection committees forward their selections to the Phoenix staff, the staff photographs, edits, color corrects, illustrates and lays out the art and literary pieces in the magazine's format.

Becoming part of the Phoenix staff
There are a few ways to get involved as a Phoenix staffer. Each year we offer a limited number of paid staff positions for students. To be eligible, students must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. To apply, contact one of the program directors, either Dr. Rita Carey for literary editing positions, or Prof. Kathrena Halsinger for fine art editing, photography, web or graphic design positions. Alternately, or simultaneously, students may enroll in Art 270 - Publication Production for 1, 2, or 3 academic credits. The course is offered during Winter quarter and covers topics related to the design, production and promotion of publications. And finally, volunteers are always welcome.
